P.E.I. driver claims pro stock tour event

Proude took early lead at Oys­ter Bed Speed­way

It was a big night in Oys­ter Bed Bridge for Greg Proude of Spring­vale on Satur­day night.

Proude took the lead on the open­ing lap of the Lu­cas Oil 150 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour at Oys­ter Bed Speed­way, and re­mained there most of the night in record­ing his first win of the 2017 sea­son.

Proude led 122 of the 150 laps in the race to take home the Linde most laps led award, fin­ish­ing ahead of Shawn Tur­ple of En­field, N.S., Dy­lan Blenkhorn of Truro, N.S., and Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, N.S., in a close finish at the check­ered flag.

Craig Slaun­white of Terence Bay, N.S., edged out Kent Vin­cent of Cra­paud for the top-five finish.

Gos­bee, Proude and Blenkhorn won At­lantic Tilt­load heat races to set the field for the Lu­cas Oil 150.

Robbie MacEwen of Sher­wood was sev­enth in the Lu­cas Oil 150 to take home the Exide Bat­ter­ies rookie-of-the-race and King Freight fu­ture win­ners awards in front of a ca­pac­ity crowd.

Nick Chi­as­son of Mil­ton won the Cen­tral En­gine Ser­vices Street Stock 50. Shelby Baker of Fall River, N.S., was in Vic­tory Lane in the Mar­itime League of Le­gends Tour.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour re­turns to Hal­i­fax, N.S., for the 18th edi­tion of the pres­ti­gious At­lantic Cat 250 on Satur­day, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m.
