The fu­neral ser­vice for Don­ald Drake was held Wed­nes­day, July 26, 2017 at St. An­drew’s United Church, Ver­non Bridge with Rev. Karen MacNeill lead­ing the ser­vice and shar­ing scrip­ture. Words of re­mem­brance were shared by sons Larry and Les­lie Drake. Scrip­ture was also read by Ian Drake and Adam Drake. Mu­sic was pro­vided by the St. An­drew’s Church Choir, ac­com­pa­nied by Or­gan­ist and Choir Di­rec­tor An­drea El­lis. The congregational hymns were - “All things Bright and Beau­ti­ful” and “Joy­ful, Joy­ful”; the choir anthem was “Where the Roses Never Fade”, the solo “Ave Maria” was sung by Sylvia Mutch and the re­ces­sional was “Largo” by G.F. Han­del sung by Lynda Sharpe. The flower bear­ers were Lynn Drake, Sarah Drake, Amanda Drake, Jill Drake, Amy Drake, Kate­lyn Drake, Jenna Bys­ter­veldt and Court­ney Val­ley. The Honorary Pall­bear­ers were all those in at­ten­dance. The pall­bear­ers were Austin Drake, Ian Drake, Pa­trick Drake, Nicholas Drake, Adam Drake and Randy Drake. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Miz­pah Ma­sonic Lodge and Gil­lis Lodge were in at­ten­dance. In­ter­ment fol­lowed at St. An­drew’s United Church Ceme­tery with Rev. Karen MacNeill de­liv­er­ing the grave­side prayers. Com­ple­tion of fu­neral ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Hills­boro Fu­neral Home.
