The fu­neral for Lor­raine Gil­lis was held on Satur­day, Au­gust 5, 2017 from the Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to St. Pius X Church, where the fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Rev­erend Mau­rice Praught who also de­liv­ered the homily. The fu­neral pall was placed by chil­dren, Robbie, Christo­pher and Chantell. The first read­ing was pro­claimed by Jil­lian Ma­cLean and the sec­ond read­ing was pro­claimed by Sid­ney Reid. The prayers of in­ter­ces­sion were of­fered by nieces Theresa Mal­lard and Donna Poole. The poem, Desider­ata, was read by son-in-law Craig Dauphi­nee. The fu­neral mass was sung by the St Pius X Church Choir un­der the direction of Eileen Flana­gan. The or­gan­ist was Peggy Jones. They ren­dered the en­trance hymn, Here I Am Lord, and the com­mu­nion hymn, Take and Eat. Soloist Gaye Hood per­formed the of­fer­tory solo, I Know Who Holds To­mor­row, and the re­ces­sional solo, Lord of the Dance. The pall­bear­ers were Blair Dono­van, Kent Poole, Brian Burke, Joe Dun­phy, Ger­ard MacPhee and Kenny Hughes. The honorary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one in at­ten­dance. The in­ter­ment took place in the Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery, where Fr. Praught held the grave­side ser­vice.
