New ceilidh at Stanley Bridge WI Hall
Dino Dunsford, Gary Chipman perform tonight and every Wednesday in August
Award winning P.E.I. musicians Dino Dunsford and Gary Chipman are teaming up to present a new ceilidh every Wednesday with the next performance this evening at the Stanley Bridge WI Hall.
The ceilidh will run every Wednesday in August. Tonight, long-time friends Alan “Postie” Connolly and Blair Coughlin will join them, as well as a step dancer.
The music will be lively, Maritime-flavoured and full of fiddle tunes, stories and traditional Prince Edward Island step-dancing.
“Dino and I have been playing music together for a lot of years, and this is the first ceilidh we’ve co-presented,” says Chipman. “You can expect music ranging from Stompin’ Tom Connors to Rita MacNeill to Elvis.”
Both Chipman and Dunsford are well-known to the P.E.I. music scene with many awards, accolades and recordings to their credit. More recently, both musicians play regularly at various ceilidhs, dance halls and festivals across the Island.
The Sterling Women’s Institute operates the hall, which hosts ceilidhs six nights a week during the summer months. The WI supports many local charities, such as the QEH Foundation, and the ceilidhs are fundraisers for the hall.
The hall is air-conditioned, and there will be strawberries and ice cream for sale at intermission.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is at the door. The hall is located at 4897 St. Mary’s Road, Stanley Bridge
