Wood, Belsher join series
The Egg Farmers of P.E.I. Close to the Ground concert series continues Thursday, Aug. 10, 8 p.m., at the Kaylee Hall, Pooles Corner as hosts Fiddlers’ Sons and Keelin Wedge welcome special guests Richard Wood and Gordon Belsher.
For more than two decades, Wood has performed for audiences across Canada, as well as in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Australia. Highlights include TV guest appearances with Shania Twain on “The Late Show With David Letterman” and “Good Morning America,” as well as playing Carnegie Hall with Irish legends The Chieftains.
Wood has also entertained Canada’s Armed Forces in Bosnia and Afghanistan. His recordings have earned him three East Coast Music Awards, and MacLean’s Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Canadians to watch in the 21st century.
Belsher has been entertaining audiences in Canada and around the world performing at concerts, festivals, conventions and pubs. As an accompanist to P.E.I. fiddler Cynthia MacLeod, as well as Wood, Belsher has toured extensively in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia. His album, “Passed Presence, Past and Present,” won roots traditional recording of the year at the Music P.E.I. Awards in 2013. His previous CDs, “Call Up All the Neighbours” and “Reel in the Flickering Light,” garnered East Coast Music Award nominations.
The Kaylee Hall is located at the intersection of routes 3 and 4 near Montague. There will be a 50-50 draw, canteen service and CDs available for sale. Admission is at the door, and everyone is welcome.
