Wood, Belsher join se­ries

The Egg Farm­ers of P.E.I. Close to the Ground con­cert se­ries con­tin­ues Thurs­day, Aug. 10, 8 p.m., at the Kaylee Hall, Pooles Cor­ner as hosts Fid­dlers’ Sons and Keelin Wedge wel­come spe­cial guests Richard Wood and Gor­don Belsher.

For more than two decades, Wood has per­formed for au­di­ences across Canada, as well as in the U.S., Europe, Ja­pan and Australia. High­lights in­clude TV guest ap­pear­ances with Sha­nia Twain on “The Late Show With David Let­ter­man” and “Good Morn­ing Amer­ica,” as well as play­ing Carnegie Hall with Irish le­gends The Chief­tains.

Wood has also en­ter­tained Canada’s Armed Forces in Bos­nia and Afghanistan. His record­ings have earned him three East Coast Mu­sic Awards, and Ma­cLean’s Mag­a­zine named him one of the Top 100 Cana­di­ans to watch in the 21st cen­tury.

Belsher has been en­ter­tain­ing au­di­ences in Canada and around the world per­form­ing at con­certs, fes­ti­vals, con­ven­tions and pubs. As an ac­com­pa­nist to P.E.I. fiddler Cyn­thia MacLeod, as well as Wood, Belsher has toured ex­ten­sively in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Ja­pan and Australia. His al­bum, “Passed Pres­ence, Past and Present,” won roots tra­di­tional record­ing of the year at the Mu­sic P.E.I. Awards in 2013. His pre­vi­ous CDs, “Call Up All the Neigh­bours” and “Reel in the Flick­er­ing Light,” gar­nered East Coast Mu­sic Award nom­i­na­tions.

The Kaylee Hall is lo­cated at the in­ter­sec­tion of routes 3 and 4 near Mon­tague. There will be a 50-50 draw, can­teen ser­vice and CDs avail­able for sale. Ad­mis­sion is at the door, and ev­ery­one is wel­come.
