National Acadian Day is Aug. 15
Islanders and visitors are invited to celebrate National Acadian Day on Aug. 15 at various locations across P.E.I.
Celebrations will take place at the Centre acadien Grand-Rustico with a tintamarre (noise-making parade) leaving at 11 a.m. from the centre towards the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico, where a flag-raising ceremony will be held, followed by a free barbecue and live music.
In Charlottetown, family activities will begin at 1 p.m. on Victoria Row, while similar events are planned for 6 p.m. at the Village musical acadien in Abram-Village and the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest in Deblois.
Party-goers in Rustico can board a free shuttle at 2:15 p.m. heading for the provincial celebration at Port-la-Joye-Fort Amherst.
