Na­tional Aca­dian Day is Aug. 15

Is­lan­ders and vis­i­tors are in­vited to cel­e­brate Na­tional Aca­dian Day on Aug. 15 at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions across P.E.I.

Cel­e­bra­tions will take place at the Cen­tre aca­dien Grand-Rus­tico with a tin­ta­marre (noise-mak­ing pa­rade) leav­ing at 11 a.m. from the cen­tre to­wards the Farm­ers’ Bank of Rus­tico, where a flag-rais­ing cer­e­mony will be held, fol­lowed by a free bar­be­cue and live mu­sic.

In Charlottetown, fam­ily ac­tiv­i­ties will be­gin at 1 p.m. on Vic­to­ria Row, while sim­i­lar events are planned for 6 p.m. at the Vil­lage mu­si­cal aca­dien in Abram-Vil­lage and the Cen­tre aca­dien de Prince-Ouest in De­blois.

Party-go­ers in Rus­tico can board a free shut­tle at 2:15 p.m. head­ing for the pro­vin­cial cel­e­bra­tion at Port-la-Joye-Fort Amherst.
