The funeral for Lorraine Gillis was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend Maurice Praught who also delivered the homily. The funeral pall was placed by children, Ronnie, Christopher and Chantell. The first reading was proclaimed by Jillian MacLean and the second reading was proclaimed by Sidney Reid. The prayers of intercession were offered by nieces Theresa Mallard and Donna Poole. The poem, Desiderata, was read by son-in-law Craig Dauphinee. The funeral mass was sung by the St Pius X Church Choir under the direction of Eileen Flanagan. The organist was Peggy Jones. They rendered the entrance hymn, Here I Am Lord, and the communion hymn, Take and Eat. Soloist Gaye Hood performed the offertory solo, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow, and the recessional solo, Lord of the Dance. The pallbearers were Blair Donovan, Kent Poole, Brian Burke, Joe Dunphy, Gerard MacPhee and Kenny Hughes. The honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. The interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where Fr. Praught held the graveside service.
