Concrete plans for Charlottetown
Charlottetown council is gearing up for some summer work.
Council approved a number of resolutions recommended by the city’s public works and urban beautification committee during Monday’s meeting.
Council voted in favour of spending $187,439.62 for a supply of hot mix patching asphalt for the 2018. The asphalt will be supplied by Island Construction Ltd., which had the only submission to the tender.
There was a requirement for local area production and pickup of materials. That is to limit travel time for city staff, who will be obtaining loads a couple times each day per crew.
Council voted to award a tender for material inventory to Campbell’s Concrete, which had a bid of $89,537.99. Council voted to accept Branch Manager Tree Service’s bid for boom truck rental with an operator and stump grinding. The boom truck will cost the city $112.70 per hour, while stump grinding will cost $224.25 per stump. Council also accepted Twins Landscaping’s bid to supply the city’s topsoil and Island Grown Sod’s submission to supply the city’s sod.
