Funeral for Brodie McCarthy to be held May 21
Funeral arrangements have been announced for Brodie George McCarthy, the 18-yearold Grade 12 Montague Regional High School student who died last week after sustaining a brain injury during a rugby match.
McCarthy, who is from Cambridge, died at Moncton City Hospital on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, after being injured the previous Friday during the match at Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside.
He will be resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting hours Sunday, May 20 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m., with interment to follow in the St. Paul’s Parish Cemetery.
McCarthy is the son of David and Lisa (McGuigan) McCarthy and brother to Brandon and Justin. He is also survived by grandparents Wilfred and Marie McCarthy of Murray Harbour North and Donnie and Elaine McGuigan of Stratford, greatgrandmothers Vivian McCarthy and Margaret MacGuigan and aunts Kara (Jamie) Stewart and Tracey McGuigan.
McCarthy also leaves behind cousins Aiden, Eva, Max, Sam and Cohen and his girlfriend, Trinity.
He was predeceased by greatgrandfathers Eugene McCarthy and Leslie (La) MacGuigan and great-grandparents Clara and Emmett J. Cameron and Philip and Christine McGuigan and numerous other family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the neuro-intensive care unit at the Moncton City Hospital or the Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant Program.
