Fu­neral for Brodie Mc­Carthy to be held May 21

Fu­neral ar­range­ments have been an­nounced for Brodie Ge­orge Mc­Carthy, the 18-yearold Grade 12 Mon­tague Re­gional High School stu­dent who died last week af­ter sus­tain­ing a brain in­jury dur­ing a rugby match.

Mc­Carthy, who is from Cam­bridge, died at Monc­ton City Hos­pi­tal on Mother’s Day, Sun­day, May 13, af­ter be­ing in­jured the pre­vi­ous Fri­day dur­ing the match at Three Oaks Se­nior High in Sum­mer­side.

He will be rest­ing at Fer­gu­son Lo­gan Mon­tague Fu­neral Home with vis­it­ing hours Sun­day, May 20 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

The fu­neral ser­vice will be held in the fu­neral home chapel on Mon­day, May 21, at 11 a.m., with in­ter­ment to fol­low in the St. Paul’s Par­ish Ceme­tery.

Mc­Carthy is the son of David and Lisa (McGuigan) Mc­Carthy and brother to Bran­don and Justin. He is also sur­vived by grand­par­ents Wil­fred and Marie Mc­Carthy of Mur­ray Har­bour North and Don­nie and Elaine McGuigan of Strat­ford, great­grand­moth­ers Vi­vian Mc­Carthy and Mar­garet MacGuigan and aunts Kara (Jamie) Ste­wart and Tracey McGuigan.

Mc­Carthy also leaves be­hind cousins Ai­den, Eva, Max, Sam and Cohen and his girl­friend, Trin­ity.

He was pre­de­ceased by great­grand­fa­thers Eu­gene Mc­Carthy and Les­lie (La) MacGuigan and great-grand­par­ents Clara and Em­mett J. Cameron and Philip and Chris­tine McGuigan and nu­mer­ous other fam­ily mem­bers.

In lieu of flow­ers, donations may be made to the neuro-in­ten­sive care unit at the Monc­ton City Hos­pi­tal or the Or­gan and Tis­sue Do­na­tion and Trans­plant Pro­gram.

The fu­neral ser­vice will be live-streamed on the Fer­gu­son Lo­gan web­site, fer­gu­son­lo­gan. com, be­gin­ning at 10:40 a.m.
