Evac­u­a­tion or­der lifted in Bris­tol’s Hope, N.L., as for­est fire con­trolled

HAR­BOUR GRACE, N.L. — An evac­u­a­tion or­der has been lifted in a New­found­land com­mu­nity af­ter fire­fight­ers man­aged to get a nearby for­est fire un­der con­trol. Three fire de­part­ments, a wa­ter bomber and a he­li­copter were work­ing at the scene at Bris­tol’s Hope on Thurs­day, and by late evening fire­fight­ers re­mained in the area putting out a num­ber of hot spots.

A num­ber of homes were evac­u­ated on Thurs­day, but the or­der was lifted late in the day. Mean­time, two cab­ins were de­stroyed dur­ing an on­go­ing for­est fire in Terra Nova, about 240 kilo­me­tres to the west of the Bris­tol’s Hope fire.
