Crews search for 81-year-old woman miss­ing af­ter hav­ing car trou­ble

HAL­I­FAX — An air­craft and ground crews have scoured an area out­side Hal­i­fax for an 81-year-old woman who was last seen at her car on Tues­day af­ter it ran into trou­ble. Po­lice say Myrna Burgess and an 83-year-old male fam­ily mem­ber were vis­it­ing Porters Lake Pro­vin­cial Park when they had car trou­ble and slept in the car overnight. They say the man left on foot at noon on Tues­day to get help, walk­ing for sev­eral hours be­fore meet­ing some peo­ple who tried to help him find his way back to the ve­hi­cle.

They were not able to find it and called RCMP the fol­low­ing day, prompt­ing ground search and res­cue crews to be­gin a search. Burgess is de­scribed as white, with short white hair and RCMP say she has mo­bil­ity issues. Po­lice are in­ter­ested in speak­ing to two men on bi­cy­cles the man saw on his walk Tues­day.
