The City of Char­lot­te­town is host­ing a Free­dom of the City cer­e­mony and pa­rade with the Royal Cana­dian Sea Cadets to­day. About 75 sea cadets will march from the pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment com­plex park­ing lot along Kent Street to Queen Street, ar­riv­ing at City Hall at ap­prox­i­mately 10:30 a.m. for the of­fi­cial cer­e­mony. There will be a rolling clo­sures along the pa­rade route as they are es­corted by Char­lot­te­town po­lice to City Hall. Fol­low­ing the cer­e­mony, the cadets will pa­rade from Queen Street, turn­ing right on Grafton Street, right on Rochford Street, and left on Kent, end­ing at the pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment com­plex. A sec­tion of Queen Street, be­tween Fitzroy and Kent streets, will be closed to traf­fic from 9:30 a.m. un­til ap­prox­i­mately 11:30 a.m. Park­ing will be re­stricted on Queen Street be­tween Fitzroy and Kent streets from 5 a.m. un­til the con­clu­sion of the event.
