An­nual Har­vest Fes­ti­val

Holy Trin­ity is hold­ing its an­nual har­vest fes­ti­val on Oct. 10 at the Co­droy Val­ley Fire Hall start­ing at 2 p.m. Lots of crafts, knit­ted goods, baked goods, pre­serves, veg­eta­bles and more.

Stir­ring up the Brew

Autism In­volves Me will host a Hal­loween-themed fundraiser Oct. 20. The Stir­ring Up The Brew con­cert will re­vive some mu­si­cal stars long since passed on. Star­ring Chris­tine Buf­fett and Ju­nior Bragg, the show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at the St. James Memo­rial Cen­tre. Tick­ets are $10, and can be pur­chased in ad­vance by call­ing Amanda Patey at 698-2344, Sam Leyte at 6602200 or the Gate­way Women’s Cen­tre at 695-7505.

Aware­ness walk

Autism In­volves Me will host an Autism Aware­ness Walk in Port aux Basques on Oct. 16. Money raised dur­ing the event sup­ports the Autism So­ci­ety of New­found­land and Labrador. More de­tails about the walk will be an­nounced soon.

Roast beef din­ner

A hot roast beef din­ner with dessert will be held on Sun­day, Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the St. James Memo­rial Cen­ter. To pur­chase your ticket, please call Bessie Black­more at 695-2429 or Lorna Cof­fin at 695-7188.

Friends of com­pas­sion

If you or your loved one are cur­rently in a sea­son of griev­ing, we would like to in­vite you to our pi­lot project – a grief sup­port group en­ti­tled “Friends of Com­pas­sion.” A mul­ti­dis­ci­plinary group of lead­ers in the town of Port aux Basques have re­al­ized this need and are mak­ing our first steps to­wards meet­ing that need. In times of loss, a per­son must be re­minded that griev­ing is nat­u­ral, nec­es­sary, and not a unique ex­pe­ri­ence – even when grief is unique to you, you are not alone. Fall sale

The United Church Women of Port aux Basques are spon­sor­ing a Fall Sale and Lunch on Sat, Oct. 29 be­gin­ning at 12 noon. This will con­sist of a soup and roll lunch and a sale of pre­serves, baked goods and crafts.

The St. James ACW Fall sale will be held on Mon­day, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Memo­rial Cen­ter: cold plates with dessert in­cluded, crafts, baked goods and much more. Tick­ets for cold plates may be pur­chased by call­ing Bessie Black­more at 695-2429 or Dianne He­witt at 695-3777.

Vol­un­teers wanted

Hos­pi­tal Aux­il­iary invit­ing vol­un­teers to work at their gift shop two hours/week min­i­mum. Shop is open seven days a week (2-4 p.m.) and (7-9 p.m.); ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions from males/fe­males. High school stu­dents are wel­come. Train­ing pro­vided. Po­lice check re­quired. Christ­mas ham­pers

On June 22 the Southwest Coast Min­is­te­rial As­so­ci­a­tion held their monthly meet­ing. It was de­cided by all mem­bers that we would no longer be dis­tribut­ing toys with the Christ­mas ham­pers. We will be dis­tribut­ing food items only.

School Re­union

A re­union for St. Mary’s School in La­ma­line is be­ing planned in 2017. Or­ga­niz­ers are seek­ing out for­mer stu­dents and teach­ers. You do not need to have grad­u­ated from St. Mary’s to par­tic­i­pate.
