areas where the offshore fleet has access. No good to shut the door after the horse has left the barn.

Turbot was said to originate in the Davis Strait and migrate south along the Labrador coast to the nose and tail of the banks. Turbot quotas have increased on the nose and tail of the Grand Banks where the foreigners fish, while in areas along the Labrador coast such as 2JGH 3K, where NL fishers fish, quotas have decreased.

The cod moratorium has been in place for over 25 years now and fish have not increased at all like they should have. That is because the foreigners have been allowed to harvest them without apprehension as they migrate over the 200- mile limit. It is left up to the country of origin to police them.

DFO has given the FFAW the right to govern fishermen as they see fit and in return the FFAW has given the federal government the right-of-way to do what they like with fish quotas, especially on the nose and tail of the Grand Banks.

Please, fishermen of Newfoundland and Labrador, stand up to this FFAW, which is only here for themselves and a select few.

Please stand up for your kids’ and grandkids’ future.

Get rid of this FFAW union now.
