New Marine At­lantic build­ing to be lo­cated on Hardy’s Ar­te­rial Road.

PORT AUX BASQUES, N.L. – A sod turn­ing event will be held at the site of Marine At­lantic’s new ad­min­is­tra­tion build­ing next week.

The Crown cor­po­ra­tion an­nounced the ac­qui­si­tion of land at 175 Hardy’s Ar­te­rial Rd. to­day, June 28, for the build­ing.

“This will be a multi-mil­lion-dol­lar facility that will con­sol­i­date ad­min­is­tra­tive func­tions in Port aux Basques, sim­i­lar to what has been done in other ar­eas of our or­ga­ni­za­tion,” Kristo­pher Par­sons, chair of Marine At­lantic’s board of di­rec­tors, said in a re­lease.

“We are very ex­cited about the con­struc­tion of our new facility and the ben­e­fits it will bring for our op­er­a­tions, as well as our over­all pres­ence and in­vest­ment in the lo­cal com­mu­nity. We will also in­ves­ti­gate part­ner­ship op­por­tu­ni­ties that could re­sult in mu­tual ben­e­fits for our op­er­a­tions, em­ploy­ees and lo­cal res­i­dents.”

The sod turn­ing will take place at the site on Mon­day, July 2.

The re­lease in­di­cated the new build­ing will mean im­proved space and ameni­ties for em­ploy­ees and op­er­a­tions.

It will also sup­port a strength­ened fo­cus on open­ness, col­lab­o­ra­tion, em­ployee Marine At­lantic’s new ad­min­is­tra­tion build­ing will be lo­cated across from the Bruce II Sports Com­plex.

Ini­tial site prepa­ra­tion ac­tiv­i­ties are ex­pected to start in the com­ing weeks. The build­ing is ten­ta­tively sched­uled to open in the 2020-21 fis­cal year.
