Man charged in credit card fraud

-

Police have seized more than 200 fraudulent credit cards after a Waterdown Royal Bank patron noticed something fishy at the ATM.

“A citizen reported seeing a male making repeated withdrawals from the ATM using blank credit cards,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

When officers checked out the bank around 9:15 p.m. on May 4, they found a man inserting a blank gold plastic card with a magnetic strip into the ATM.

The man tried several times but eventually figured out the correct PIN and withdrew cash. Police said the man had more than 200 bogus credit cards and in excess of $15,000 in cash on him.

The credit cards seem to be from financial institutions across the United States.

Glib Belyakov, 20, of Stoney Creek is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of proceeds of crime and fraud over $5,000.
