Police scale back search for missing Burlington senior last seen July 5
One week later, the search continues for a missing Burlington senior with Alzheimer’s.
Helen Robertson, 79, was last seen just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at her Millcroft neighbourhood home near Millcroft Park in northeast Burlington.
Her disappearance launched a large search by Halton Regional Police that has since been scaled back. During Robertson’s time missing there have been several hot days with an extreme heat warning issued this week for parts of southern Ontario.
“Our SIRT (Search Incident Response Team) is looking in areas however it is not a full-scale search” with the full Mobile Command Unit, Burlington Det.-Sgt. Ron Hansen said Tuesday afternoon.
“We have fanned out Helen’s photos to every police service, public transit etc. We are continually checking with hospitals,” he added.
Police continue to encourage residents to check backyard sheds, pools and low-lying areas. Robertson is described as white, fivefoot-two, 110 pounds with white collar-length hair and glasses. She might be wearing a red, long-sleeved collared shirt. Anyone with information about Robertson should call Halton police at 905-634-1831, ext. 2305.
