Got your backer button yet? The annual Hamilton Fringe Festival continues daily until July 24 with more than 40 companies offering musicals, physical theatre, dance, comedies, drama, science fiction and sketch comedy at 11 downtown venues. Tickets are no more than $10 per show, available at the door one hour before showtime. You must also buy a $5 fringe backer button to access the festival. Under the big top
The Shrine Circus is in town, Spectac! 2016 is at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd. S., this weekend. Show times are Friday noon, 4 and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday noon, 4, and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 for general admission. Shrinecircus.com
Worlds of music
The Hamilton World Music Festival brings the world to Hamilton this weekend. Celebrate our multicultural community with food and craft vendors, live music on two stages from noon to 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Gage Park. Admission is free.
Roll don’t stroll
Friday Nights Rolling in the Park and Smooth Saturdays, feature roller skating to a DJ at the Waterfront Outdoor Rink — Pier 8, 47 Discovery Dr., Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 11 p.m., throughout the summer. Roller skate rentals are available for $6.50 with government ID with sizes from toddler to adult. Rental hours are noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday.
Futures and fortunes
The Psychic and Wellness Fair at Erland Lee Museum Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., promises so many vendors, demonstrations, readers and more that they will be situated indoors and out. Come out and treat your body, mind and spirit. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the food bank. Erland Lee Museum is located at 552 Ridge Road, Stoney Creek.
Honda Indy Toronto
Heading down the QEW? Make note there are closures along Lake Shore Boulevard from Strachan Avenue to Ontario Street, July 15 to 17 for the Honda Indy Toronto. Throughout the Honda Indy, up to two children 12 and under will receive free fare on the GO train or bus when accompanied by at least one paying adult with a destination of Exhibition Station and a Honda Indy admission ticket.
Safe to swim?
Confederation Park Beach, Valens Conservation Area Beach and Van Wagner’s Beach are closed as tested July 11 and 12. Bayfront Beach is closed for the 2016 swimming season due to a history of high levels of bacteria and/or toxins. In Halton, Prospect Park Old Beach and Bronte Beach Park are closed as tested July 7.
