Rap­tors fi­nal­ize all-star DeRozan’s con­tract

TORONTO — The Toronto Rap­tors have fi­nal­ized the sign­ing of guard DeMar DeRozan, bring­ing the all-star back to the only NBA team he has ever played for. The deal is re­port­edly for five years at $139 mil­lion US. The six-foot-seven, 220-pound na­tive of Comp­ton, Calif., av­er­aged a ca­reer and team-best 23.5 points (tied for eighth in the NBA) with 4.5 re­bounds and 4.0 as­sists in 35.9 min­utes over 78 games in 2015-16.

He av­er­aged 20.9 points, 4.2 re­bounds and 37.3 min­utes in 20 games in the post-sea­son as Toronto ad­vanced to the East­ern Con­fer­ence fi­nal for the first time.

The Rap­tors also con­firmed the sign­ing of free-agent for­ward Jared Sullinger, who av­er­aged 10.3 points and 8.3 re­bounds in 81 games with Bos­ton last sea­son.
