Originally constructed in the 1850s as the Standard Hotel, this circa 1910 post card depicts the building at 3136 Homestead Dr., Mount Hope, as the Temperance Hotel, one of many stopovers on the Plank Road running south from Hamilton to Port Dover. Today, the building has been extensively modified for private residences. Changes to the outside include vinyl siding and the covered porch has been removed. Photos courtesy of the Golden Horseshoe Post Card Club. For more information, go to www.ghpcc.ca or call Jon at 905-388-5840.
