Man dies in Albion Falls plunge
A man is dead after a fall Saturday afternoon in a rugged area at Albion Falls.
The victim, aged about 55, fell into the ravine at the falls, located near Mountain Brow Boulevard and Limeridge Road East on the Mountain.
The incident took place around 3:45 p.m. and when emergency personnel responded, it was a confirmed fatality.
“It came in as a rope rescue,” said fire information officer Bob Simpson.
Six fire trucks responded to the scene but were quickly called off.
“Very early on it became a police investigation,” Simpson said.
Two fire trucks stayed behind to help.
A police spokesperson said the victim fell about seven or eight metres “into a very rugged, rocky area.”
No foul play is suspected, police said, “and there’s no sign this was a suicide.”
“We don’t believe it was the result of any criminal activity,” police added.
