‘Paper only’ means just that

RE: Illegal dumping

Compassion Ministry (CM) is a non-profit group serving those in need in the GHA. Since CM does not receive any government funding, one avenue they use for fundraising is collecting paper for recycling. The papers go in a big green bin. On the outside it says “PAPER ONLY.”

On a recent Sunday morning, it was discovered that someone had dumped all manner of household items, including a 3-D puzzle, golf bag, skateboard, lamps, dresser, picture frames, etc. in the bin! Now, I wonder if someone has the know-how to golf, skateboard, assemble a 3-D puzzle, etc., why can’t they read and comprehend the words “PAPER ONLY.” Why do some people illegally dump? Ignorance … laziness? Unfortunately, we cannot afford to install a surveillance camera. If you need to get rid of stuff and you don’t know how, telephone the City of Hamilton at 905-546-2489 or donate it to a non-profit organization that takes such donations and remember “PAPER ONLY” means PAPER ONLY! Susan Woodrow, Volunteer, CM Hamilton
