Truck splatters chicken parts across Burlington road
A dump truck left chicken parts splattered across a stretch of road in north Burlington Thursday afternoon as temperatures soared.
The truck was pulled over by Halton police at about 11 a.m. after animal scraps spilled out of the rear loader and onto the road.
Halton Police and City of Burlington staff both attended the scene in the northbound lanes of Brant Street just south of Dundas Street.
“It looks like the chicken expanded in the heat. When (the driver) put the truck into gear to start at the light, it washed over the sides of the truck,” said Det. Const. Greg Cormier.
Investigators just happened to be in the area when they witnessed the mess unfold.
“(The driver) had already started to turn around on his own initiative to go back and see what had happened (when he was pulled over),” Cormier said.
The company cleaned up the mess, and no charges were laid.
