Man killed in Stoney Creek industrial accident
The Ministry of Labour is investigating what led to a fatal workplace accident in Stoney Creek.
Emergency crews were called to Janco Steel Ltd. on Arvin Avenue around 11:50 a.m. Thursday where they discovered a man had been killed by a steel coil that had fallen on him. The worker suffered a head injury and died at the scene, said ministry spokesperson Janet Deline.
She said the coil came off some rigging, and pinned the man to the ground.
Police are helping the ministry with its investigation.
The name of the victim wasn’t released Thursday evening as next of kin hadn’t yet been notified.
A Janco representative could not be reached for comment Thursday.
