Smartwatch shipments drop for first time, Apple to blame

The Hamilton Spectator - - BUSINESS -

SAN FRANCISCO — For the first time ever, global shipments of smartwatches declined year over year, according to a report from research firm IDC. During the second quarter, smartwatch makers shipped 3.5 million devices, a 32-per-cent drop from last year. Blame Apple for the declines, as the leader in the market was the only smartwatch maker to report a year-over-year decline in shipments.
