McKeil adds new bulk carrier to growing fleet
Hamilton’s McKeil Marine is growing again, adding a second bulk carrier to its fleet.
The newly renamed Florence Spirit boasts four cargo holds. It joins the Evans Spirit, the company’s first bulk carrier, which was acquired last year and named after company founder Evans McKeil. The Florence Spirit is named after Evans’ wife.
Built in 2004, the new carrier is a 136-by-21-metre general cargo vessel capable of carrying 13,500 metric tons. The vessel will carry powdered cement and raw materials for the cement industry, among other bulk cargo.
