The 46th chase for the Sil­ver Fox be­gins to­day

Salt­fleet Storm, the only un­de­feated (11-0) team in the Hamil­ton boys’ pub­lic high school league, and Car­di­nal Newman Car­di­nals, the only un­de­feated (9-0) team in the Hamil­ton Catholic league, will be the first lo­cal teams to tip off in the 46th an­nual Teach­ers Life Sil­ver Fox In­vi­ta­tional Bas­ket­ball Tour­na­ment on Thurs­day morn­ing.

The Car­di­nals play Tim­mins High School and Vo­ca­tional School at Glen­dale Sec­ondary School at 9 a.m. Thurs­day, while the Storm play host to Bramp­ton’s St. Roch Catholic Sec­ondary School at 10 a.m. at Salt­fleet Dis­trict High School.

The two-day tour­na­ment is also a twogym tour­na­ment, with Salt­fleet and Glen­dale host­ing ev­ery game.

The last three games of the Sil­ver Fox are all at Salt­fleet, cul­mi­nat­ing in the tour­na­ment championship fi­nal at 7:30 p.m. Fri­day.

St Bene­dict Saints of Cam­bridge are ranked No. 1 in the tour­na­ment and play against Peter­bor­ough’s Adam Scott CI at 2:30 p.m. Thurs­day at Salt­fleet. Or­ga­niz­ers have rated Car­di­nal Newman as the top lo­cal team, af­ter their vic­tory in the Mark Walton Tour­na­ment and third place fin­ish in the pres­ti­gious St. Mike’s event.

Cathe­dral Gaels, sit­ting in se­cond place in the Hamil­ton Catholic League, open their tour­na­ment run at noon Thurs­day at Glen­dale against highly-re­garded St. Fran­cis Xavier of Mis­sis­sauga.

Sir Allan Mac­Nab Lions, se­cond in Hamil­ton league play, meet Ni­a­gara’s St. Paul’s at Glen­dale at 1:30 p.m. Thurs­day.
