Woman rescued from Devil’s Punchbowl after car fire, police investigating
A woman ended up more than 30 metres from the top of the Devil’s Punchbowl after a car fire Sunday night. Nearly two dozen firefighters were at the Stoney Creek waterfall rescuing the injured woman until around 10:45 p.m. Emergency services were first called to a car fire at 8:18 p.m. They arrived to find the burning empty car at the top of the escarpment but soon noticed the woman at the bottom. The woman was conscious and able to talk to firefighters during the rope rescue. The extent of her injuries was unknown at 11:15 p.m. Police are investigating how the car caught fire and what happened to the woman.
