Woman res­cued from Devil’s Punch­bowl af­ter car fire, po­lice in­ves­ti­gat­ing

A woman ended up more than 30 me­tres from the top of the Devil’s Punch­bowl af­ter a car fire Sun­day night. Nearly two dozen fire­fight­ers were at the Stoney Creek wa­ter­fall res­cu­ing the in­jured woman un­til around 10:45 p.m. Emer­gency ser­vices were first called to a car fire at 8:18 p.m. They ar­rived to find the burn­ing empty car at the top of the es­carp­ment but soon no­ticed the woman at the bot­tom. The woman was con­scious and able to talk to fire­fight­ers dur­ing the rope res­cue. The ex­tent of her in­juries was un­known at 11:15 p.m. Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing how the car caught fire and what hap­pened to the woman.
