Rental hous­ing li­cens­ing pi­lot will be stud­ied

A spe­cial com­mit­tee will look at the fea­si­bil­ity of a rental hous­ing li­cens­ing pi­lot in only two wards. The mo­tion from Coun. Terry White­head to pi­lot the idea in wards 1 and 8 was re­ferred to the rental hous­ing sub­com­mit­tee. That body, formed af­ter coun­cil opted against full apart­ment li­cens­ing in 2013, re­cently voted to ex­plore vol­un­tary land­lord reg­is­tra­tion. But White­head and Coun. Ai­dan John­son told col­leagues the two ef­forts could be stud­ied si­mul­ta­ne­ously.
