The art of good beer

The Col­lec­tive Arts Brew­ery is gear­ing up to launch its sev­enth se­ries of orig­i­nal beer la­bels, fea­tur­ing 72 artists and mu­si­cians from around the world. On Satur­day, Feb. 18, they’ll host an open house/ re­veal from 1 to 6 p.m. and then a “Bash in the Brew­ery,” 8 p.m. to mid­night. Tick­ets $10 in ad­vance, $15 at the door. 207 Burling­ton St. E.

Berke­ley North brunch

Your week­end morn­ings just got a bit tastier. Berke­ley North, a new eatery on King Wil­liam Street’s “restau­rant row,” is open­ing its doors for brunch on Satur­days and Sun­days. The veg­e­tar­ian/pescatar­ian menu in­cludes eggs Bene­dict, and veg­e­tar­ian tacos. Brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 31 King Wil­liam St., 905-522-5858.

Ni­a­gara stu­dent wins big in In­dia

Se­lah Sch­moll can take the heat. The sec­ond-year Culi­nary Man­age­ment stu­dent at Ni­a­gara Col­lege placed third over­all at the re­cent Young Chef Olympiad in In­dia. The 23-year-old Ni­a­gara Falls res­i­dent rep­re­sented Canada at the in­ter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion that drew more than 60 top stu­dent chefs.
