Sports out­reach

The city is de­vel­op­ing a sports out­reach strat­egy to help max­i­mize ac­cess to sports pro­grams and ser­vices in Hamil­ton. Lead­ers with lo­cal sports and rec or­ga­ni­za­tions can at­tend up­com­ing com­mu­nity work­shops to help form rec­om­men­da­tions. The next work­shop is Feb. 22, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Churchill Park club­house, 187 Cline Ave. N.

Firearm dis­charge by­law up­dates

The city is up­dat­ing the ar­eas of the city where guns can be fired. Find out more at the public meet­ings. Ward 1: Feb. 13, 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Glan­brook Mu­nic­i­pal Ser­vices Cen­tre, 4280 Bin­brook Rd.; Wards 14 and 15: Feb. 14, 7 to 9 p.m. at Rock­ton Fair­grounds, 812 Old Hwy 8; Ward 12: March 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at An­caster Old Town Hall, 310 Wil­son St. E.

Maple syrup fes­ti­val

West­field Her­itage Vil­lage’s Maple Syrup Fes­ti­val starts the week­end of March 5. The fes­ti­val runs Sun­days from March 5 to 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with week­day events on the 15th and 16th dur­ing March Break. The vil­lage is at 1049 Kirk­wall Rd., Rock­ton. Hamil­ton Con­ser­va­tion Au­thor­ity mem­bers get in free; non-mem­ber en­try is $11 for adults, $6.50 for kids and $10 for seniors.
