Helping people achieve their real estate goals

A weekly profile of one of Hamilton’s growing number of young professionals

Name: Stefanie Pelone

Age: 29 Position: Realtor with Ambitious Realty Advisors Inc. in Hamilton

Job description: I assist people achieve their real estate goals … From a young couple looking to purchase their first home or working with seller as their house no longer matches their lifestyle to someone looking to use real estate as an investment for their future, it is such a great feeling to get to share that excitement with them.

Is this the job you thought you’d be doing?

My passion for real estate started at a young age. I can remember, as a child, walking through homes being constructed with my father who is a small home builder. I was always fascinated with the process and happy to see a home go to an excited family. While working full-time in the insurance industry, I did real estate part-time, working with investment properties, flipping homes and helping lots of family and friends who would look to me for advice.

I soon realized that I needed to pursue full-time what I enjoyed doing so much. Taking the risk to quit my job at the time to follow my dreams has allowed me to be part of the wonderful change happening in Hamilton. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Advice to others on launching a career:

Do it. Believe in yourself even when you are doubtful. If you love what you’re doing, you are already successful.

Roots: Proud homegrown Hamiltonian. Lived in Stoney Creek my whole life; I have moved seven times, but never out of the city.

iPhone, Android or BB? Love my iPhone.

Recent FB update: The launch of my local newsletter, featuring a spotlight on some of Hamilton’s favourite neighbourhoods and features on businesses started by local entrepreneurs. So excited to share and to cross off my first 2017 goal.

Networks: Hamilton Hive, YEP Hamilton

Favourite restaurant in the downtown:

So many great choices. Mom and pop shops are my favourite: people who are passionate about what they do and take pride in everything they serve. If I had to narrow it down, Tony’s Corner, Pokeh and Fsh & Chp are some of my favourites.

Best feature of life in Hamilton:

Hamilton is such a beautiful city. Of course I am biased but the beautiful escarpment views to enjoy, tons of hiking trails, conservation areas and beautiful scenery are the perfect balance to the industrial side that Hamilton’s history was built on. We are lucky to have an expansive waterfront and we are even the waterfall capital of the world.

What would make Hamilton a better city:

Lower property taxes and a developed waterfront that attracts residents to visit, enjoy, live, work and play.

Quote: Life is the pursuit of happiness. Follow your dreams and believe you will succeed. Even if you don’t, you will still be further ahead tomorrow than you are today. Opportunity is what sets Hamilton apart, you can do anything here.
