DANCE, DRAW­ING, MU­SIC AND THE SPO­KEN WORD were the top­ics of in­struc­tion dur­ing a day-long work­shop at the Hamil­ton Con­ser­va­tory of the Arts for 100 Grade 7 and 8 stu­dents. Here, Asheika Brown, cen­tre, and her group re­hearse their steps.

Madi­son Mousseau, a Grade 7 stu­dent from W.H. Bal­lard, fo­cuses dur­ing mu­sic re­hearsal Wed­nes­day at the Hamil­ton Con­ser­va­tory for the Arts as part of an Ex­pe­ri­en­tial Learn­ing Day in the Arts for around 100 Grade 7 and 8 stu­dents.

The theme was for stu­dents to ex­am­ine Hamil­ton’s Char­ter of Rights of Chil­dren and Youth. Solan Hack­ett, a Grade 8 stu­dent at Sir Wil­frid Lau­rier, works on his art.

Bri­anne Whalen, from W.H. Bal­lard, learns some dance moves. There were also lessons in draw­ing and spo­ken word.

The work­shop is one in a se­ries by the Hamil­ton Went­worth Dis­trict School Board. Grace Wal­lace, a Grade 8 stu­dent from W.H. Bal­lard, draws on a mu­ral.

Dhiren Swayze, from W.H. Bal­lard, plays the trom­bone dur­ing mu­sic re­hearsal. About 100 stu­dents came Wed­nes­day from three schools, Lake Av­enue, Sir Wil­frid Lau­rier and W.H. Bal­lard.
