New Credit man beaten in vi­o­lent home in­va­sion

NEW CREDIT FIRST NATION — Haldimand County OPP are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a vi­o­lent rob­bery that left a New Credit man beaten on the floor of his home.

Six Na­tions Po­lice and Haldimand paramedics re­sponded to the home on Se­cond Line in Mis­sis­sauga of the New Credit First Nation (close to the bor­der with Six Na­tions) Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon af­ter a friend dis­cov­ered the vic­tim.

OPP be­lieve a man — with his face cov­ered — en­tered the home around 12:15 p.m. and con­fronted the vic­tim.

The vic­tim was hit sev­eral times with a weapon, be­fore the sus­pect stole cash, a wal­let and pre­scrip­tion med­i­ca­tion, OPP said.

The at­tacker was last seen run­ning down the drive­way and get­ting into the pas­sen­ger side of a newer model sil­ver Dodge Du­rango.

The ve­hi­cle fled east on Se­cond Line.

He was de­scribed as a “light-coloured skin” male, ap­prox­i­mately six foot tall, with a thin build and wear­ing cam­ou­flage cloth­ing.

The vic­tim was trans­ported to hospi­tal and treated for non-lifethreat­en­ing in­juries.
