There’s too much Trump in my beloved Spec

RE: Spec’s Canada & World pages (Feb 10)

This is less com­plaint and more sim­ple ob­ser­va­tion: when the Canada & World page of my beloved Spec­ta­tor is sin­gu­larly de­voted in one way or an­other to mat­ters per­tain­ing to the United States of Don­ald Trump (Twit­ter tantrum, Trump nom­i­nee, U.S. am­bas­sador to Canada), I have to ques­tion the de­gree to which Amer­i­can pol­i­tics is dom­i­nat­ing Cana­dian news.

Yes, the United States is our big­gest trad­ing part­ner and de­serves our at­ten­tion, and yes, the me­dia seems in­tent on keep­ing The Don­ald in the news. But in fu­ture I hope The Spec will give some con­sid­ered at­ten­tion to our other im­por­tant trad­ing part­ners such as the Euro­pean Union (EU), China, Mex­ico and the United King­dom.
