Man charged in fire-hose noz­zle thefts

A man has been charged af­ter po­lice al­lege he stole the metal noz­zles out of fire hose cab­i­nets in two down­town apart­ment build­ings.

It was on the evening of Jan. 28 that po­lice say the thefts were caught on sur­veil­lance cam­eras in two build­ings at 123 Charlton Ave. E. and 100 For­est Ave.

“These types of thefts are putting the lives of peo­ple at risk in the event of a fire emer­gency,” po­lice said at the time, ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion. Po­lice re­leased pho­tos from that footage, and on Mon­day an­nounced that a Hamil­ton man had been iden­ti­fied and charged.

Ja­son Scott, 34, is charged with 26 counts of mis­chief en­dan­ger­ing life, 25 counts of theft, break and en­ter to com­mit theft, and 25 counts of pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty un­der $5,000.
