As a long­time reader of The Spec­ta­tor’s ed­i­to­rial pages I have be­gun to no­tice a grow­ing fre­quency in the par­rot­ing of the term “lib­eral me­dia.” Ja­son Worth is so out­raged by the cov­er­age of re­cent events that he uses it twice in one let­ter. A quick check of the Ox­ford English Dic­tionary de­fines the word “lib­eral” as ... “Fit for a gen­tle­man. Not rig­or­ous or lit­eral, open-minded, un­prej­u­diced.” Which of these at­tributes does Mr. Worth find so ob­jec­tion­able? Mark Sum­mers, Wa­ter­down
