Inhumane treatment is a horror story

The Hamilton Spectator - - OPINION -

RE: Treating animals humanely is good business (Feb. 14)

Was anyone else as horrified and nauseated reading how unnecessarily cruel the animals being transported to slaughter are being treated?

After watching the Cowspiracy documentary, the environmental impact by grazing animals has turned me away from consuming meats. Yes I also always felt compassion toward these animals. But why do we allow such cruel practices, i.e. cattle being transported, no matter what the temperature, and only be offered water every 52 hours.

The rules are being changed, water will need to be offered every 36 hours. Why can we not adopt the much more humane EU laws of every eight hours? We need to speak up about this behind the scene horror story. Anna Miller, Hamilton
