LICENCE TO KILL

The Hamilton Spectator - - BUSINESS -

OLE NIELSEN is a licensed killer — of insects.

The septuagenarian, who has worked in pest control since 1967, runs his own company, OHN Pest Management.

He moved to Hamilton from London in 2004 and has been working for property management companies — mostly here in the city but also in Oakville and Burlington — ever since.

Nielsen was 23 years old when he decided to switch careers from print production to pest management.

The idea of being on the road instead of behind a printing press charmed him, and he never looked back.

While the chemicals used over the years have changed, the job has essentially remained the same, according to Nielsen.

“You’re here to help,” he said. “The pest control industry tries to promote themselves as the health keepers of the world.”
