Hamilton police spokesperson dies of cancer
Catherine Martin, longtime spokesperson for the Hamilton Police Service, has died.
Martin, 52, died “peacefully at home surrounded by her family” on Tuesday, following a “hardfought, 12-year battle with breast cancer,” according to her obituary.
She was the corporate com- municator for the police for the last 12 years and previously worked in public relations for St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Realtors Association of Hamilton and Burlington and the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
“Members of the Hamilton Police Service are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague Catherine Martin,” said spokesperson Const. Steve Welton.
Martin leaves behind her husband, two children, parents, siblings and extended family.
Visitation is scheduled for L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa St. N., on Friday, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be at Delta United Church on Saturday at 2 p.m.
