Speed was a fac­tor in a mo­tor­cy­cle crash in Bin­brook Thurs­day that left a rider in hos­pi­tal with life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

A 22-year-old Bin­brook man re­mained in sta­ble con­di­tion Fri­day af­ter be­ing thrown from his mo­tor­cy­cle about 6 p.m. Thurs­day, Hamil­ton po­lice said.

Col­li­sion re­con­struc­tion unit in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve the mo­tor­cy­cle rider was pass­ing an­other ve­hi­cle when he lost con­trol, left the road and was ejected.

He was south­bound on High­way 56 near Kirk Road.

The crash scene, south of Bin­brook Road, was closed for sev­eral hours.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing. Po­lice are ask­ing wit­nesses to call Det. Const. Wal­ter Ni­block at 905-5464753.
