A mo­ment of prayer and re­flec­tion is held Satur­day to mark the 23rd an­niver­sary of the Rwanda geno­cide. Hamil­ton Po­lice Ser­vice hosted the event. It is es­ti­mated up­wards of 800,000 peo­ple of Tutsi ori­gin as well as po­lit­i­cal mod­er­ates were killed by Hutu ex­trem­ists in just 100 days in 1994. Event or­ga­nizer Chan­tal Mu­da­hogora said “It’s a good way of sur­vivors get­ting to­gether. We never had the chance to have clo­sure or to mourn our own or even to grieve our loss.”
