Man charged af­ter four hurt in Haldimand crash

Haldimand OPP have charged an 83-year-old man af­ter a two-car crash in Hagersville Fri­day morn­ing.

Po­lice and paramedics re­sponded to the crash at San­dusk Road and Con­ces­sion 10 Walpole in Haldimand Coun­try at 10:36 a.m. af­ter wit­nesses re­ported one of the ve­hi­cles had rolled over and two peo­ple were trapped inside.

Po­lice say a car trav­el­ling south on San­dusk struck an SUV trav­el­ling west on Con­ces­sion 10 Walpole, caus­ing it to roll over and trap the driver and pas­sen­ger inside. Fire­fight­ers safely re­moved the two, who were then trans­ported to hospi­tal with non-lifethreat­en­ing in­juries.

The two oc­cu­pants of the car were also taken to a lo­cal hospi­tal with non-life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

Both ve­hi­cles sus­tained sig­nif­i­cant dam­ages, po­lice said.

The OPP have charged the SUV driver, Howard Jep­son, 83, of Hagersville un­der the High­way Traf­fic Act with fail­ing to yield to through traf­fic.
