High-speed collision on QEW claims woman’s life
BURLINGTON — A 61-year-old Hamilton woman died in hospital following a high-speed crash on the QEW Wednesday night that closed all westbound lanes at Guelph Line for several hours.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said one of the vehicles involved was travelling “at a high rate of speed” before the collision, which happened around 9:30 p.m.
That vehicle rolled several times during the crash and the driver died.
The driver of the other vehicle was questioned by police, but released unconditionally, Schmidt said.
No charges are pending and she was not injured.
Collision reconstruction investigators are looking into the circumstances of the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Burlington OPP detachment.
