Fundraising and frozen treats
Cycling and ice cream for a good cause — that’s the idea behind the Ice Cream Ride. It’s a 25-kilometre journey from Bayfront Park to Burlington’s Spencer Smith Park and back again to raise money to help find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
The ride is part of a larger fundraising effort called Max’s Big Ride, started by six-year-old Max Sedmihradsky and his family to help fund research on DMD through the registered charity, Jesse’s Journey.
The Ice Cream Ride is the first stretch of a 600-kilometre fundraising ride to Ottawa for Sedmihradsky and his dad.
Along the way, riders will be rewarded with frozen dessert from Rudy’s and lunch from Cake and Loaf, plus another treat from Rudy’s at the finish line.
