The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

Police are investigating after a man was robbed at knifepoint downtown.

Just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, police say a 39-year-old man was walking near Wilson Street East and Mary Street when he was approached by a group of men. One of them had a knife and demanded his wallet.

The man handed it over and was not injured.

The suspects were last seen running north on Mary Street.

Police received another call a half-hour earlier, after a 28-year-old man was approached by four men in a parking lot at Barton Street East and Mary Street.

They demanded that the man empty his pockets, but he told them he didn’t have any money. Police say the group followed him for a short distance but then walked away.

Given the proximity of the incidents, police are investigating them together. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or submit anonymous tips and information through Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477.
