Dispensary raided, operator charged
A 30-year-old man is facing trafficking charges after police raided a downtown Hamilton marijuana dispensary.
Around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at the Hamilton Village Dispensary on King Street East near Ferguson Avenue North.
In a press release, police say they had been “made aware of an illegal marijuana dispensary operating in the city,” where the owner was “committing the criminal acts” of selling marijuana. Officers seized about $50,000 worth of marijuana, as well as derivative products, including processed marijuana and THC products.
The 30-year-old operator — whose name police didn’t release — has been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of THC for the purpose of trafficking, possession of resin for the purpose of trafficking, and proceeds over $5,000.
Reached by phone Wednesday afternoon, an employee at the dispensary said they were back open.
