Veto sounds like a dictatorship

The Hamilton Spectator - - OPINION -

RE: Mayor hankers for veto power (May 8)

I always thought that democracy was to rule by a majority of votes. We the people elect our officials and they speak for us regarding issues that will affect our lives. Mayor Fred’s desire to have the authority to veto the decisions of council suggests he wants to be a dictator.

Hamilton doesn’t need a dictator, it needs a person who can lead and abide by what the majority wants. North Korea is ruled by one man, hopefully Hamilton will continue to be ruled by our elected officials not by one man who can veto council. Michael Adkins, Hamilton
