At least the mayor sees the big pic­ture

RE: Mayor han­kers for veto power (May 8)

Why the hys­ter­i­cal re­ac­tion to the idea of the mayor hav­ing a veto. It works in other cities in North Amer­ica. You could have a sys­tem where a two-thirds ma­jor­ity coun­cil vote could over­rule the veto. It’s true that too many of our coun­cil­lors are parochial beyond be­lief and can­not see the big pic­ture. At least the mayor is think­ing of the city over­all. Harold Mitchell, Hamil­ton
