Public statement or apology is needed

RE: Madeleine Levy comments

It has been almost two months since the original article was written about Madeleine Levy’s purported egregious comment that “Poles killed Jews in Auschwitz”. To date, there has not been a public apology, statement or note of clarification from Ms. Levy.

I have, however, read a number of nonsense letters to The Spec that have attempted to trivialize this incident as being a “private comment”.

Ms. Levy has been appointed to a high profile public position and as such must be held to a high public standard. This is a serious matter that cannot be swept under the rug or discounted as being a bunch of “hullabaloo”.

A public statement from Ms. Levy is essential if the Police Services Board is to maintain any credibility with the public. It begs the question: Why is Ms. Levy silent? Ed Machaj, Oakville
